When Anna M. Meier was born on December 30, 1850, in Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany, her father, Peter, was 36 and her mother, Anna, was 30. She married John H. Schroeder about 1874. They had eight children in 15 years. She died on December 19, 1907, in St Louis County, Missouri, at the age of 56.

Grandmother Kirmse, Martha Cordes, worked as a maid for the Schroeder family during the year before she married Grandfather Kirmse, Wilhelm Kirmse.
