When Joseph Kirmse was born on January 18, 1873, in Farrar, Missouri, his father, Julius, was 37 and his mother, Barbara, was 30. He married Martha Wilhemina Kassel on May 10, 1921, in his hometown. He died on May 21, 1957, in Perry County, Missouri, at the age of 84, and was buried in Farrar, Missouri.
