When Maria Kirmse was born on February 7, 1868, in Farrar, Missouri, her father, Julius, was 33 and her mother, Barbara, was 25. She married Clemens Doernhoefer on February 9, 1893, in her hometown. They had three children - Edward Julius Doernhoefer (1894-1982), Gilbert Martin Doernhoefer(1908-1981), and infant twin of Gilbert(1908-1908).
