When Wilhelm "William" Kirmse was born on May 21, 1875, in Farrar, Missouri, his father, Julius, was 40 and his mother, Barbara, was 33. He married Martha Margaretha Cordes on February 11, 1904, in his hometown. They had six children - Julius Heinrich Kirmse (1905 – 1998), Edna Barbara Kirmse (1908 – 1909), Alwin Karl Kirmse (1911 – 1928), Laura Helena Maria Kirmse (1913 – 1995), Ella Anna Paulina Kirmse (1918 – 2010), and Norma Martha Kirmse (1924 – 2000).
